Cookie notice

Last updated: 19 May 2026

This notice explains the cookies and similar technologies we use on wia.io. It complements our privacy notice, which covers personal data more broadly.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. We also use related technologies - local storage, session storage, pixel beacons - to deliver and improve the site. In this notice we use the word “cookie” loosely to cover all of them.

Categories we use

Strictly necessary

Required for the site to function. Cannot be switched off without breaking pages.

Analytics

Help us understand how the site is used in aggregate. You can opt out without affecting site functionality.

Preferences

Remember choices you have made - for example, whether you have already seen the cookie banner.

Cookies we set

next-route-announcer

Used by the Next.js framework to announce client-side route changes to assistive technologies. No personal data leaves the browser.

ph_*

Anonymous usage analytics - which pages are visited, how long sessions last, which features get used. We use PostHog in EU residency so the data stays in the EU. No cross-site tracking or advertising profile is built.

wia_consent

Stores your cookie preference so we do not ask again on every page. Set only after you make a choice in the cookie banner.

Opting out

You can:

  • Decline non-essential cookies in the banner that appears on your first visit. Your choice is remembered for 12 months.
  • Block cookies at the browser level using your browser’s privacy settings. Each major browser publishes instructions - Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
  • Opt out of PostHog analytics directly. PostHog respects the Global Privacy Control header and the Do-Not-Track signal.

Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off without breaking the site. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Changes

We update this notice when the set of cookies changes - typically when we add or remove a service provider. The latest version is always at this URL, with the date at the top reflecting the last revision.
